The flags have been lowered, the ceremonies have concluded, and the long holiday weekend has come to a close. Often, the day after Memorial Day can feel like a "reset" or a return to the mundane. But as a Lupus Savior, I know that true Vitality isn't found only in the grand gestures or the public holidays—it’s found in the "Afterglow."
Today is about taking the gratitude we felt yesterday and turning it into the fuel we need for the rest of our journey.
The Sacred Momentum
When we stop to think about the brave men and women who ensured our freedom, that reflection shouldn't end when the calendar flips. It should leave a permanent mark on how we view our own lives. If yesterday was about Remembrance, today is about Stewardship.
How are you taking care of the freedom you’ve been given?
For me, stewardship means tending to my Sacred Container. It means that even on the days when the Lupus pain tries to reclaim my territory, I remember that I am a warrior in my own right. Having God by my side gives me the "Afterglow" energy—the quiet strength to keep building my Passion and Purpose even when the world has moved back to "business as usual."
Transitioning with Grace
The end of May often brings a rush of "summer energy," which can be overwhelming for those of us navigating chronic illness. We feel the pressure to jump into high-gear. But remember: your sovereignty includes the right to set your own pace.
If you are feeling the "post-holiday slump" or a physical flare today, don't see it as a setback. See it as your body’s way of integrating the emotional depth of the weekend. Resilience isn't about never slowing down; it’s about knowing how to transition from the heights of honor to the steady work of daily life.
Living the "Thank You"
We honor the ultimate sacrifice by living lives that are vibrant, authentic, and free. Today, your Vitality is your "Thank You."
Passion: What is one project you’ve been holding back on? Launch it in honor of your freedom.
Pleasure: What small joy can you savor today simply because you can? A quiet cup of tea, the sound of the birds, the feel of the sun on your skin.
Purpose: How can you serve someone else today, carrying on the spirit of those who served us?
Today’s Empowerment Practice:
The Integration Walk: If your body allows, take a slow 10-minute walk. With every step, say "thank you" for the ground beneath your feet and the air in your lungs.
The "Sacred Reset" Journaling: Write down three ways you plan to use your freedom this week to better your life or the lives of others.
The Purple Persistence: Wear your purple today with a renewed sense of mission. You aren't just surviving Lupus; you are honoring a legacy of bravery by refusing to let your light go out.
A Prayer for the Week Ahead
May the peace of the Divine stay with you as the holiday fades. May you carry the strength of the fallen in your spirit and the grace of the Creator in your heart. You are free, you are loved, and you are capable of extraordinary things.
How are you carrying the 'Afterglow' of the weekend into your Tuesday? What is one way you are choosing to be a 'Good Steward' of your freedom today? Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments.
